Session Fees and Getting Started

The Intake Session with your Therapist

(scroll down after this section to view hourly fee schedule)

During the early phases of our work together, it is important to assess your situation and gain some clarity around your goals. A thorough intake session can reveal hidden issues that may be contributing to the problems and challenges you are facing. To summarize, the purpose of your intake session is to:

  • Review your goals and expectations of therapy

  • Gather relevant background family of origin and relationship history

  • Learn about how your therapist’s style, approach, and their ability to understand you and empathize with you

What happens during my Intake Session?

  • The Intake Session is the first appointment with your therapist and is conducted with all clients involved in the therapy and is structured to help identify a direction and roadmap for your work together.

  • You and your therapist will review the framework and boundaries of the therapy to help manage expectations and address any concerns and questions.

  • You will discuss your background and history to help identify any connections to your present situation (i.e. family, personal, work, relationships. and attachment history)

  • You will begin a “deeper dive” into the issues that brought you to therapy as your therapist integrates tools from their “therapeutic toolbox”
